The 2010 IAMCR conference will be hosted by the Communication and Society Research Centre, University of Minho, Portugal.
CECS is the acronym for Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade [Communication and Society Research Centre]. In close collaboration with the Communication Sciences Department at Universidade do Minho, and supported by the Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences (SOPCOM), CECS is the organizer of IAMCR Conference.
This permanent research structure was created in September 2002. It is social sciences-oriented and it has 20 researchers with a Ph.D. and 30 PhD students. The Communication and Society Research Centre was classified in 2008 as the best Communication Sciences research centre in the country (mark: ´Excellent´) by an international panel on behalf of the National Science Foundation (FCT-Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia). CECS is divided into two main two main research lines: i) Media and Journalism, and ii) Languages and Social Interaction.
